American Mathematics Competition- Honor Roll

"Math is a journey, not a destination." Under the pressure of a competition system, I overcame various challenges in preparation for the contest. To hone my problem-solving skills, I assigned myself to solve complex math problems under a daily practice schedule. Since staying calm and time management during the contest were crucial, I set time limits when solving problems. I formed a sense of confidence when I could solve the problems successfully within the time limit, and such progress made me determined to step out of my comfort zone to crack open more complex math problems. Furthermore, I was motivated to think deeply and critically to find solutions to unprecedented questions I was not exposed to when studying math within the school curriculum. By the time I had solved a stack of math problems, I had discovered myself to have developed both academically and personally.

This process served as a reminder for me that learning math is indeed an enriching process and also enabled me to appreciate the glory of math. I discovered many personal aspects of myself I had not acknowledged previously including my ability to thrive in pressurized conditions and my dedication to achieving the results I desire. Participating in this contest enhanced my math learning experience and I am confident that I will be able to utilize the skills I required through this journey as I proceed along in my studies.
