Tri-M Music Honor Society
Everyone has their own ways to relieve stress. Many of my peers choose to hang out with their friends and family, watch Netflix, or play video games. However, I don't find much fun in those activities. I rather enjoy playing and listening to music instead. Whenever I feel stressed or exhausted from all the studying, I just immediately turn on my classical music playlist and try to find my path to peace and comfort. And during the weekends, since I have more leisure time, I play my violin and try to approach new pieces of music. Hence, when I heard the news that the Tri-M Music Honor Society was recruiting new members, I thought it would be such a great opportunity for me to share my interest in music with others and reach my lifelong dream, which was to perform my music in front of audiences.
Starting to participate as a part of the student member, I was able to experience the importance of music not only in myself but also within the community. Especially when performing for the elderly houses and children's homes, my heart was filled with happiness. Watching the audience's smiles while I perform taught me that music not only brings joy and comfort in myself but also to those who listen. Also, despite several restrictions (such as online performances) due to the pandemic situation, I could actually feel our members and the audiences being connected and making up harmony through music. Thus, I learned that music possessed the power to bring people together and form a solid bond.
Throughout the activities that I've done as a member of the Tri-M Music Honor Society, I was able to spark my interest and enthusiasm in music. Hence, this helped me put more emotions and dedication into every single piece and performance, and eventually lead me to be nominated for the Director's Award for Band.
